How It Works
How SayHiCam Works
Three steps, no homework. Here is exactly what happens between opening SayHiCam and talking to someone new, face to face.
See Someone
Open SayHiCam and you'll find real people, on cam, open to a conversation. There's no feed to scroll for an hour and no profile essay to decode — the person you see is the person you get, live.
If you like the serendipity of not knowing who's next, a random video chat pairs you with one person at a time. If you'd rather look first and choose, browsing works too. Either way, it starts with a face.
Say Hi
One tap opens the conversation. No opening line to workshop, no match queue to wait in — you say hi the way you would to a person standing in front of you, because one effectively is.
The first time, your browser will ask permission to use your camera and microphone. That's a normal browser prompt, and it's what makes the conversation two-way: they see and hear you, you see and hear them.
Meet Face to Face
Now it's just the two of you. Every SayHiCam conversation is a private 1-on-1 video chat — no group rooms, no audience, nobody else reading along.
Stay as long as the conversation deserves. And when it runs its course, leaving is one tap and zero awkwardness — then someone new is one hi away.
Devices & Permissions
Desktop
Use any modern browser with a webcam. When the browser asks for camera and microphone access, choose Allow — you can change or revoke that permission later in your browser's site settings at any time.
Mobile
SayHiCam works in your phone's browser too — nothing to install. Hold the phone at eye level if you can; your conversation partner will thank you.
A decent connection
Video likes a stable connection more than a fast one. If a chat gets choppy, moving closer to your router usually fixes it faster than anything else.
Quick Answers
No. SayHiCam runs in your browser on desktop and mobile. Open the site, allow camera and microphone access when your browser asks, and you can start a video chat without installing anything.
That's the Whole Manual
See someone, say hi, meet face to face. The best way to learn it is to do it once.
